Product Details of Microsoft Rise of Nations

Description

Rise of Nations is a new historical real-time strategy game from Big Huge Games' Brian Reynolds, designer of the PC game classic Civilization II. For the first time ever, gamers will experience the pulse-pounding thrill and speed of real-time gaming combined with the epic scope and depth of turn-based strategy games. The game brings to life 6,000 years of history, from the ancient age to the information age - not just in warfare but in city building, trade and diplomacy. Rise of Nations allows players to create new cities, improve their city infrastructure and expand national borders. Players have the option to win through military or quasi military strategies, using everything from slingshots to cannons to nuclear missiles. Despite the long timeline in the game, Rise of Nations is designed with the casual audience in mind, meaning gamers will be able to move through the game quickly without playing for hours.

Microsoft Rise of Nations

Strengths: Inventive, almost no features left out. Addictive. Easy resoure collection. Lots of Units and Civs.

Weakness: Multiplayer searching is hard.

Rise of Nations, one of the greatest games of all time. The developers left almost nothing out. The graphics are great and the interface is really simple, but has tons of features. The game is a must buy. Lets go Big Huge Games!

Microsoft Rise of Nations

Strengths: Great tactical RTS that doesnt force you to spend time on resourcing.

Weakness: Hard to find an online game. There should be and easier was to raise the Armeggadon counter.

Incredibly fun, good AI. The Conquer the World mode is very fun as well. Territory and attrition are great additions to the RTS genre.

Microsoft Rise of Nations

Strengths: MAssive amounts of detail and finely polished gameplay.

Weakness: Not enough options for the difficulty of the computer.

Another fresh and good game coming out of the microsoft game labs. It is fun and inventive at the same time. Your ctions may have severe consequences if you dont play your cards right. For instance i built 12 nuke silos and launched them all at my opponent...well i was severly punished by losing by default to an armageddeon. Just simply an awesome game that any hardcore rts gamer would enjoy.

Microsoft Rise of Nations

Strengths: Strong command interface, gathering resources is easy so you can focus more on building a strong nation. Loved the multi soldier purchase system. great game for lan parties and online.

Weakness: a little difficult to find a multiplayer game using its multiplayer.

a good game buy. works well with all big name brand video cards ie nvidia and radeon... even voodoo. For people that this game has issues with your video card download the latest drivers. The game it self reminds me a lot AOE 2 but with better resource gathering and a lot better combat.

Microsoft Rise of Nations

Strengths: easy to install...graphics ok

Weakness: progression through history too fast.

I honestly didn't see why everyone loves this game so much. I thought it sucked. First the progression through time was way to fast. I personnaly enjoy playing in the medieval ages more than in the modern. Second there are other more established games that accomplish what this game was trying for. aka Civ3, C&C:Generals, Any of the Total War series. Third I can't really remember because I haven't...

lowering the standard

Strengths: none

Weakness: everything

Stick with Empire Earth. Microsoft builds games like they build os's. Its crap. It takes you all of an hour to get to the highest level in the game with no satisfaction of trying out any technology in battle.

RiseNations

Rise of Nations is an evolution of the Age of Empires model of real-time strategy design. It looks a lot like that classic game and in part plays a bit like it, but underneath the hood is an entirely new and deeper real-time strategy experience. It's also a heck of a lot of fun to play.

RiseNations

My turn-based strategy reviews date back to the late 1980s. By contrast, I distinctly remember giving a glowing recommendation in a PC Games issue of 1992 to Westwood Studios' Dune 2, the first major release real-time strategy game. I don't take this little trip down Recollection Road to proclaim any special authority or knowledge about these game genres; who could? Maybe Sid Meier, Chris...

Rise of Nations

A few years ago, my friends and I would get together at someone’s house with our computers and have a LAN party. The game of choice was always Star Craft because of its highly addictive nature, innovation, and “cool aura” that it had. Several years have passed and the RTS genre has gotten extremely stagnant. A few game developers have added several new things to the genre such as heroes,...
