Strengths: The Graphics, Action, and Character control are amazing... better than the arcade. Awesome 2 player game!!!
Weakness: Not as much fun in single player mode.
I've only had this game for 3 days, but it is Awesome! They appear to have improved on the arcade version by leaps and bounds. This is a great 2 player game, but it does get a little redundant in single player only mode. If you're a fan of the TEKKEN series then you'll love this game... it has lots and lots of weapons.
Strengths: Incredible graphics. Fluid animation. Nice variety of characters.
Weakness: Gets dull pretty quickly. Default AI is way too easy. No online option. Heihachi is a stupid bonus character.
There are two ways to look at this game. The first is the two player experience and the other is the single player. The two player experience is good, but, since there's no option to play against others online, that's pretty shortlived, as it only lasts as long as the people immediately around you want to keep playing. The single player experience is not so good. In single player versus mode, the...
Strengths: All around solid title
Weakness: Weak exclusive character, not as impressive the second time around.
I'm not really a big fan of Soul Calibur II. It's not really that impressive as the prequel on DC and I never got beyond learning a handful of moves and combos for a few characters. The 1p modes are pretty much what you'd expect and Namco seriously needs to bring back those awesome animated endings for each character. Soul Calibur II is a fighter I can only play casually before losing interest...
Strengths: + detailed graphics + fast gameplay
Weakness: - like all fighting games, it's a bit boring playing alone. - PS2's exclusive character is not as cool as playing with Zelda
Soul Calibur 2 is the most fun I've had playing a 3D fighter. The characters aren't as memorable as the characters in the Tekken series or Street Fighter series, but the fast gameplay makes the battles more exciting than any other 3D fighting game.
Strengths: Excellent graphics gameplay and sound. Tons of unlockables. Incredible intro movie.
Weakness: No animated endings but that's about it.
Soul Calibur 2 is probably the best 3-D fighting game for the Playstation 2. Everything from the graphics and sound, to the gameplay are nearly perfect. There are tons of things to unlock as you play the game. These range to new characters to new weapons and coustumes. There are many modes of play as well. The Weaponsmaster Mode is like a deeper story mode were you must fight to earn money....
Strengths: Great graphics, solid controls, playable Heihachi from Tekken.
Weakness: Not a huge leap from the Dreamcast version.
I already own the Gamecube version and liked the game a lot so I decided to pick up the PS2 version once I saw it plummet in price. Although this game is on all 3 consoles (PS2, XB, GC), I believe the Gamecube version is the best because you can use Link (from the popular Zelda series); however, having Heihachi (from Tekken) is still a nice bonus. Soul Calibur is one of the great fighting games...
Strengths: One of the best 3D fighters
Weakness: Gamecube version not only looks nicer, but has a better exclusive Character (Link from Zelda), Todd Mcfarlane's character is just horrible - all his character designs look the same
I have both this version and the Gamecube version, while theres only minor differences, I very much prefer the Gamecube version. Overall though, the PS2 version is still a solid fighter. You get plenty of fighters, the great conquest mode, and one of the best multiplayer experiences you can ask for. Just stay away from Necrid, the biggest cliche thats came out of Mcfarlane inawhile. The PS2...
Strengths: Controls, Graphics, Sound, Variety of modes
Weakness: None
The sequel to arguably the greatest game for the Sega Dreamcast, the Playstation 2 definitely does the game justice. Packed with more characters and a console specific character (Link – Gamecube, Spawn – XBOX, Hirachi – PS2), this newest installment proudly carries on the lineage of the series. Graphically, the game looks fantastic from the characters, all the way down to the stage...
Strengths: Graphics are as good as they get for the characters & backrounds, every character has a TON of moves
Weakness: Single player game while fun & has plenty of stuff to do can get boring 2 player is more fun & is where it's at for fighting games IMO
When it comes to 3D fighting games Namco is as good as it gets. Soul Calibur II is a one on one fighting game where each character has a weapon unique to them. The thing that makes this game so great is the fact that the game is so complex that it is as I like to think it can be played very much like a sport. The game has probably about 1,000 moves I often find myself playing against the computer...

The game that made you buy a Dreamcast. That's what Soul Calibur was. As a Dreamcast exclusive, it left PSone and Nintendo 64 owners in the gutter. That's the main reason why many of us picked up Sega's last console – to play the sequel to Namco's most innovative title since Tekken: Soul Edge (known as Soul Blade on PSone). Times are changing though. Exclusivity is no longer a major issue. Game...

Sometimes, evolution is not mandatory. Take the horseshoe crab, Komodo dragon, or even a cockroach as examples. Each individual creature has remained relatively unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years, yet each species continues to successfully survive in this ever-changing world of ours. We often take for granted, or simply forget that more primitive life forms thrive to this very day as a...

When the Dreamcast hit the market, there was one title that was a must-have. Over the course of its entire, brief lifespan, there was a single game that really symbolized the Dreamcast -- you just had to have this game, and if you didn't, what was the point? That game was Soul Calibur. Now the series has its moment to shine: the PS2 is wildly popular, unlike the Dreamcast, and fighting game...

Soul Calibur II
Strengths: Weapons, PS2 exclusive character, and unlockables
Weakness: Invisble wind
Having fifteen to twenty weapons per character to choose from is allot, trust me, and having two to three alternate costumes is allot too. The weapon master mode is the main game in which you play across levels raising your rank and earning money. In addition, Training modes, arcade modes, survivor modes, VS modes, and numerous other modes are included. Any 1 on 1 fighter fan should own this game.
