Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel Xbox

Strengths: Nice game world, good graphics and sounds, very funny storyline,

Weakness: Camera gets a bit odd at times, not as in-depth gameplay as prior titles

Fallout comes to the consoles with Brotherhood Of Steel, via the way of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

The BG:DA engine gets done in the Fallout universe in this RPG title, and it's done well enough, though could be a bit better. The Fallout game world is well represented in this game, with the sarcastic humor, as well as a few colorful phrases thrown in for good measure. The graphics are pulled from BG:DA, which means they look good, but the camera's angle put an odd view on things. The sound and voice acting is alright, not a standout, but nothing bad.

The gameplay is good and is full of action, though it can be quite difficult at times. There aren't as many puzzles as in other games, though the action fills in the gaps.

It's a good game that will keep RPG players and action players well entertained, and most will think it worth picking up.

FALLOUT

Strengths: LOTS OF ACTION, GOOD VOICE ACTING

Weakness: GETS REPETIVE AFTER A WHILE

"FALLOUT: BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL" IS A ACTION SHOOTER GAME SET IN A MAD-MAX, POST-APOCALYPTIC SETTING. IF YOU HAVE PLAYED "BALDUR'S GATE: DARK ALLIANCE", YOU WILL BE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE GAMING STYLE OF FALLOUT. JUST LIKE BALDUR'S GATE, YOU WILL HAVE INTERACTION THROUGHOUT THE THREE CHAPTERS OF THE GAME WITH VARIOUS NPC'S , SUCH AS ARMPIT THE BARTENDER AND JESSE THE ONE-ARMED WEAPONS MERCHANT. THE DIALOGUES ARE PRETTY ENTERTAINING AND LISTENING TO YOUR ENEMIES TALK AMONGST THEMSELVES CAN GET PRETTY ENTERTAINING AT TIMES. THERE ARE VARIOUS WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT YOU CAN BUY WITH THE MONETARY "CAPS" YOU FIND THROUGHOUT THE GAME. AS GAMEPLAY PROGRESSES , YOU CAN DITCH AND SELL OFF YOUR OLD EQUIPMENT AND PURCHASE EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE WEAPONRY THAT CAN DO MORE DAMAGE. (BUT AFTER YOU FIND TWO HIDDEN WEAPONS THAT DO MASSIVE DAMAGE, THE MEAT CANNON FOR A RANGED WEAPON AND THE SLUGGER BAT AS YOUR MELEE TOOL, BASICALLY, YOU WILL NO LONGER NEED TO BUY ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT BETTER ARMOR. MY PROBLEM WITH THIS GAME IS THAT IT INITIALLY STARTS OFF AS FUN, BUT AFTER A WHILE , IT BECOMES VERY REPETITIVE AND ROTE; YOU ARE KILLING THE SAME 4 OR 5 ENEMIES , AND THEY ARE PRETTY BORING AT THAT, WITH HALF OF THEM BEING JUST BORING BUGS LIKE SCORPIONS AND TICKS, OR OTHER "EXCITING" CRITTERS LIKIE RATS. MANY OF THE BOSSES YOU FIGHT ARE ALSO IMPOSSIBLY HUGE AND GIGANTIC AND TOWER OVER YOUR CHARACTER. YOU ARE ALSO UNABLE TO ZOOM IN ON THE ACTION WITH THE CAMERA TO GET A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BATTLE. BASICALLY, AFTER THE 1ST CHAPTER, I N0 LONGER WANTED TO FINISH THIS GAME. BUT JUST FOR COMPLETENESS, I DID, AND LET ME TELL YOU, THIS GAME HAS ONE OF THE SHORTEST AND MOST DISAPPOINTING ENDINGS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN, WITH THE MAJORITY BEING COMPRISED OF NAMES AND CREDITS. REALLY A HORRIBLE PAYOFF FOR ALL OF THE HOURS OF WORK YOU SPENT CUSTOMIZING YOUR CHARACTER. THIS GAME IS MERELY OK FOR ME; RENT IT IF YOU CAN, BUT DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YOU REALLY LIKE THE FALLOUT SERIES OR THE GAMEPLAY STYLE OF BALDUR'S GATE.

Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel

Strengths: Fallout universe, two-player co-op

Weakness: Not as much customization as other games of this type

Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel is a very good action RPG for anyone looking for a game of this type outside of the usual fantasy setting. Fallout takes place in a post-apocalyptic time where the world is a wasteland and mutated people and beasts rule the land.

This game uses the Snowblind engine that is used in the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games, so if you have played those games you will be familiar with the gameplay. Basically, as you move through the game, you will get new quests to explore different areas and kill any bad guys that are there.

There area lot of fun weapons to pick up in this game ranging from cleavers to plasma rifles and there is a nice amount of player upgrades that can be earned as you progress. Although this system isn't as deep as others in this genre, I think it still gets the job done nicely. There is a nice auto-targeting system, which allows you to hold down the right trigger and lock on to an opponent. This makes using ranged weapons a lot easier.

Overall, I thought this game did a nice job of bringing the action RPG genre to a more modern setting.

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel Xbox

Strengths: Part of Fallout Series?

Weakness: Gameplay

This game was fun for a little bit. But after a little while you'll get so bored doing the same stuff over and over again. It's nothin like the other Fallouts. The power armor looks BAD and they don't have enough guns. Its very boring repetative action. Rent if before you buy it.

Fallout BrotherhoodSteel

Wasteland, a PC role-playing game released in 1987, remains one of the best RPGs ever made. Ten years later, its post-apocalyptic setting served as the basis for another PC classic, Fallout. Members of the games' considerable cult followings have constructed no shortage of tribute websites, and were even suckered in by a recent rumor that Wasteland would be ported to the Game Boy Advance .
