KOF 2000 & 2001

Strengths: Classic 2D fighting system, extras

Weakness: Graphics and sound

SNK finally released 2 of its older games, King of Fighters 2000 and 2001as a compilation for the PS2. The games are classics from the Neo Geo system and if you have played any of the street fighter II series in the arcades, you know what kind of 2D action is in store for you.

The games graphics and audio are severely outdated. Remember, these games released in 2000 and 2001 respectively. Everything from the characters to the background stages looks outdated and bland.

However, the game makes up for those shortcomings with the action in the games. Both games feature striker moves in which a character you don’t control jumps on screen and delivers a few attacks. The 2000 version contains attacks that can counter against another characters attack against you. The 2001 version features more powerful juggle attacks. Both games also feature extras and unlockable content from playing through different game modes.

If you are a fan of 2D games, then you may want to check this out. If classic fighters do not interest you, then skip it altogether.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: -Two wonderful games for the price of one. -The continuation of the interesting (though slightly stupid) NESTS Saga of the KoF series -Seth, Vanessa, Ramon, Ein, and Hinako are great new additions

Weakness: -Graphics would be considered poor by today's standards -Fighting system may seem slow and outdated to some -The striker system in 2001 is strange and lame

King of Fighters is an excellent series with a long history dating back to the early 90s. The first thing to mention is the new characters. 2000 introduces (and 2001 continues on) with Vanessa, Seth, Ein, and Hinako. Vanessa (my favorite) is a boxer, Seth is a counter expert, Ein is a Ninja, and Hinak is a 16 year old female sumo. 20001 also adds K9999, Foxy, and Angel. These characters are all intersting to play, and add to the variety.
The fighting systems for both are the same King of Fighters that everyone has come to know and love, though the power stock and striker systems change between the two. In 2000 you can build three power stocks and you have Striker Bombs, similar to KoF '99. In addition, each character has two strikers, with some having three or even four to choose from. In 2001, however, you can choose between having 1, 2, or 3 members of your team act as Strikers rather than as fighters. During the match, you build up a power meter based on how many Strikers you have (0 strikers gives you only 1 meter, while having 3 will give you 4 meters). Using a striker now costs a meter, and you can call out multiple strikers at once.
Despite the differences in Striker-usage, however, both of these games have the same basic (and fun) King of Fighters feel to them that has kept people coming back since '94

A good collection of two hardcore 2-D fighters.

Strengths: Two games in one, big character rosters.

Weakness: Graphics look pretty dated when compared to other 2-D fighters.

This King of Fighters package contains both King of Fighters 2000 and 2001. Both games play basically the same as the last installment, but that is to be expected from this series for the most part. Both games have a good character roster, with new characters in each version. The overall character art and character select menu seems very boring in King of Fighters 2001 when compared to the earlier game in the series. King of Fighters 2001 also has one of the cheapest final bosses I have ever played against. As usual, the games are geared toward the hardcore 2-D fighter fans leaving little for the casual gamer. If you like the previous installments then there is something to enjoy here.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: Two games in one package, gameplay, and new characters.

Weakness: Dated graphics and some may be turned of by 2-d graphics.

King of the Fighters (KOF) 2000 & 2001 is a compilation of two KOF fighting games for PS2. The games play like typical KOF games with a few slight changes to the fighting system. The new character additions keep the game fresh. The problem with this series is that SNK likes reusing the same sprites for all their KOF series. The graphics need an overhaul and to some they seem dated.

Give the game 3 stars for giving you two games and for being average.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: Fast load times, 2 Games, lots of extras to earn

Weakness: May not be for people who ain't fans of old school 2D fighters

King of Fighters 2000/2001 is 2 2D fighting games from SNK's trademark series. Both games have a ton of character to choose from & are deep enough in gameplay that you could spend hours playing it & mastering the game on 2 player. As for single player the game has a good amount of extras to unlock as both games offer several bonus modes to unlock new strikers, stages, and other such goodies.

I would recommend this game to fans of 2D fighting & SNK fighting games others may want to rent it first to see if it's for them.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: Hey, it's King of Fighters... plus the fact you get TWO games for the price of one! Decent 2d fighting game action, any fan should add this to their collection.

Weakness: While still a good game, this is probably the weakest two games out of the King of Fighters series.

Not much to say about King of Fighters 2000 / 2001. Graphics may seem dated to some, but to others it brings back a time where fighters were simple and pure. All of your favorite characters from the series are back, including some new faces. This game can be found relatively cheap these days, and I definately encourage anyone with a passing interest to check it out.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: 2 games for 1 price, quality 2D fighting, responsive controls

Weakness: Not the strongest KoF titles

The series comes to the PS2 cheaply. The unpopular striker system from '99 is evolved, and 2001 is marked by a radical departure in art style. Recommended for die-hard 2D fighting fans, as few others will really get it, but then die-hard fans complain how it's not KoF '98. If you were into gaming in the early 90s and have a PS2 joystick, it's worth trying.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: 2 Games in 1

Weakness: 2 of the worst games in the series, laughably cheap final boss

The N.E.S.T.S. saga continues with King of Fighters 2000 and 2001.

Both KOF games included in this package (on two separate DVDS) are decent games and well worth it for fans of 2D fighting. If you have ever played any KOF game before then you probably know where you already stand with this game. The differences between both games may seem minor at first but once you start digging beneath the surface you'll discover disabled/ new different moves and different gameplay strategies but you gotta be pretty hardcore to really care, especially since these two titles are the least fun the series has produced to date.

Worth checking out but your better off with the King of Fighters 2002/2003 double pack.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: Same great gameplay and 2d goodness.

Weakness: Repeating of sprites of older versions.

I like 2d fighting games and this game brings TWO games to play on our playstion 2 systems. SNK has been a huge suppoter of 2d games from their neo geo system and then abit fixing it up on the ps2. The graphics are nice but come on SNK bring in better graphics (compare to guilty gear), the sound is the same from the neo geo with is a 24-bit system, and the gameplay is tight but fluid. Overall the package is solid and people its TWO games in one, enjoy.

King Of Fighters 2000 & 2001

Strengths: Two complete 2D fighters on one disc, great action

Weakness: Not much difference between the two games

King of Fighters 2000/2001 are two of the most popular 2D fighting games in the King of Fighters series. Each one has numerous fighters to controls, with a wide variety of moves to use against their opponents. Each fighter ends up being pretty well balanced against the rest of their opponents, and overall, it ends up being some great action in both games.

The graphics and gameplay between the two games isn't that different, so it's hard to see the differences between the two games. Overall, for 2D fighting fans, it's worth picking up.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2000/2001

Unfortunately, the Playstation 2 isn’t home to many 2D fighters. Even more unfortunate is the fact that the 2D genre is dying all together, save for the few companies that are fighting to keep it alive; SNK NeoGeo is one of those companies. SNK NeoGeo is the American version of the deceased SNK, and thanks to them The King of Fighters series isn’t quite a memory just yet. The King of Fighters...
